Using Sinewave Segments Can Improve Peeler Efficiency

In the last issue of UPTIME we mentioned sinewave segments in an article about product movement in the peeler bed.  Here we provide some insights into the use of sinewave segment rolls for improved peeler performance for many products.

Look for the Label

Maintenance Tip!   Perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars may depend on  you getting the right parts for your machinery when you need them. To help insure that the part you order is the one you need, every piece of Vanmark equipment can be identified by its model number and unique serial number. equip_label.jpg (28277 bytes)

To better insure that your machine  can be identified, several years ago Vanmark began welding a metal label like the one at right in a conspicuous place on each machine.

Vanmark maintains a large inventory of parts and consumables to help keep your equipment up and running.  We'll do our best to get you the right part and get it to you when you need it. You can help by looking for the label and always having your machine's model and serial number handy when you speak to our parts specialists.

Basabe Group Representation Expanded

Vanmark is proud to announce that an agreement was recently signed with Basabe Group to significantly expand their representation of Vanmark products. Basabe Group formerly represented Vanmark only in Mexico. The new agreement will now allow them represent our products on a non-exclusive basis in several Latin American and South American countries.

According to Joe Wallace, President and CEO of Vanmark, Carlos Basabe and his associates have done a great job of representing Vanmark throughout Mexico and he is pleased that Basabe Group would be taking on the additional territory. "We came back from Expo Pack Mexico very excited about the business opportunities we saw. The show was very well attended and we had several excellent visits with clients who were looking for solutions to their processing needs. Having Basabe Group on board will allow us to assist these customers with very personal, face-to-face service."

Working out of their Mexico City base, Carlos and his team will make contact with customers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, and Venezuela. Contact information for Basabe Group can be found at right  or on our website.

Design Innovations Address Critical Needs

Every plant is different, but some needs M1405-even_feeder.jpg (52124 bytes) are almost universal. For example, there is usually a need to elevate product before it enters processing machinery. This commonly involves an inclined conveyor combined with a "surge hopper".

Three critical needs at this point are (1) the elevating equipment should provide a steady flow of fresh, undamaged product to downstream processes, (2) it should not be a source of contamination, and (3) it should be easy to clean and maintain.

The design of Vanmark's Even Feeder meets each of these critical needs.

The profile and spacing of belt flights are engineered to create a single layer of product across the belt. This produces a steady, consistent flow rate.

M1405-even feeder-hopper_det3.jpg (46476 bytes)Unique "5-sided corners" and round outlet in the hopper keep product from bridging or becoming trapped.  This means the first product that enters is the first product to leave and the hopper will always empty completely. Your freshest product is always being processed.

The sloped and rounded surfaces and the open design of the Even Feeder make it easier to sanitize and keep clean.

At the discharge the rubber chute and flap  minimize product damage and reduce noise.

Belt speed and tension are simple to adjust.

Why The Big, Angled Lag Screws?
Its not enough that your equipment just gets to you.  Shipping damage can set your schedule back weeks and cost thousands.  As these photos of a Hydrolift and Automatic rock Remover (ARU) illustrate, our Shipping Department does its best to help get your equipment to you in the same condition as when it left the factory.  Experience has shown that the extra trouble and expense of using big lag bolts and putting them in at an angle can make the difference between you just getting your equipment and getting it in one piece.

Its part of the Vanmark quality that goes into every order we take and every one we deliver.
