Series 2600 Design Improvements

Vanmark has completed several improvements to its venerable Series 2600 peeler/washer.  Models in this series are designed for producers whose operations require high capacity and reliability, but do not need the features or robustness of our Series 2700 machines. To download our new literature for the Series 2600 peeler CLICK HERE.

The two most noticeable changes to the Series 2600 were made at the discharge end.  The new see-through shroud will be standard on these machines, including the small capacity unit, featured in a previous issue of UPTIME™.  The shroud will be more sanitary and also allow operators to monitor the peeler bed more easily.  Behind the shroud is our new "Easy Flow™ gate.

The Easy Flow™ gate is an off-shoot of the development of the new Natural Flow Gate™ which we will be introducing soon and have mentioned from time to time in UPTIME™.  The most important difference about the Easy Flow™ gate, is that it discharges at roll positions 5-6-7-8 instead of roll positions 1-2-3-4  -- opposite of the "overflow" gate standard on previous machines.  This gate allows product to discharge from the bottom of the bed, instead of the top and is more efficient and gentler on product for that reason.

Two additional changes to the Series 2600 will be implemented in the near future, but will not be as visible. First, the single internal spray bar water line will be re-routed and extended through the frame at both the inlet and discharge ends. Re-routing the line will allow the flexibility to hook up the water supply line at either the inlet or discharge end of the peeler and will be consistent with the Series 2700.  Second, a minor change to the sheet metal "skin" (covers) for the drive case will allow them to be easily removed for maintenance access.  For additional information download our new product literature.  If you have questions or need pricing, contact your Vanmark representative or call or email our office today.

Maintenance Tip!   For greasing bearings on our peelers, washers, scrubbers and other equipment, we recommend grease from Lubrication Engineers, Inc.   For manually lubricated systems, Vanmark uses a USDA authorized lubricant with a Grade Code NLGI #2.  For automatically lubricated (auto-lube) systems we recommend using Grade Code NLGI #0.

It is important to not over lubricate.  This is sometimes a problem with  manually greased systems.  Using too much grease is not only wasteful, but in some enclosed systems can actually lead to overheating.

W. B. Machinery Joins the Vanmark Sales Team

W. B. Machinery of Lisbon, Maryland has joined the Vanmark sales and service team to represent Vanmark throughout the eastern seaboard states, with the exception of Maine, but including Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

W. B. Machinery was founded in 1996 by Steve Ward and Bob Buratowski. Both of these professionals have many years experience providing equipment solutions to customers in the food processing industry.

Steve Ward, a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, began his extensive food processing career in 1973 with BFM Machinery in Wisconsin, eventually becoming part owner.  Later positions with such well known manufacturers as A. K. Robins and Key Technology have given him a wealth of knowledge on which to draw to help W. B.'s customers.

Bob Buratowski has been committed to meeting the needs of food industry clients since 1988 and holds a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering Technology.  As a Service and Applications Engineer with Key Technology, Bob designed and installed food processing equipment for several years.  He later joined A. K. Robins and served as their Regional Sales Engineer until partnering with Steve Ward to start W. B. Machinery.

Carol Shaffer, W. B.'s Office Coordinator, uses her background in the food industry to focus on sales and administrative support, customer service, parts and quote preparation.  Her experience complements that of Steve and Bob and benefits both W. B. Machinery and their customers.

Vanmark is very proud to welcome W. B. Machinery Corporation to our sales and service team.

Contact information for W. B. Machinery can be found on Vanmark's website or you may email them at sales@wbmachinery.com.

What You Should Know About Bearings to Save Costs

Vanmark peelers and washers are used all over the world in applications as diverse as peeling potatoes to scrubbing golf balls. But regardless of the application, the subject of maintenance always comes up, because almost no other environment is quite as hostile toward equipment as food processing. Constant exposure to water, steam, heat, and corrosive liquids is common and poses problems not often associated with other types of manufacturing.

Good bearing maintenance pays off.  We hope you'll want to print the following article to use in training your operators and maintenance personnel.      Click here or on the arrows

New Feature to be Introduced at FPME in Chicago!
Vanmark will be introducing a much anticipated new feature for its line of  peelers, washers and scrubbers at the Food Processing Machinery Expo in Chicago, November 7th thru 11th.
We'll be there in Booth 6510, right across the aisle from Urschel.

Stop by on your way to the the cafe area or Pack Expo and visit with our CEO, Joe Wallace, or our equipment specialist, Jason Butler.  Either Jason or Joe can show you how this new feature can increase your efficiency and profits.  Bring your questions or just stop by to say hello.  Either way, we'll be glad to see you there.
